EXTENSION OF EXISTING SELF-CONSUMPTION FRAMEWORK UNTIL 31/12/2025

The Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry (MECI), has announced the extension of the “Scheme for the Production of Electricity from Renewable Energy Sources for Own Consumption (April 2024)” until 31st of December 2025.

At the same time, according to the relevant Decision of CERA (Decision No. 185/2025, dated 29/05/2025), consumers who meet the prerequisites of EAC-Supply can submit applications to the Distribution System Operator by following the existing procedure.

It is noted that independent suppliers must complete the required procedures for the validation of their contracts so that their customers may become beneficiaries of the Grant Schemes of the RES & Energy Saving Fund. The public is advised, before signing any contract with an independent supplier, to confirm that the supplier in question is included in the list of eligible suppliers published on the website of the Energy Service https://energy.gov.cy/.

As a result, self-consumption systems (excluding those that will be included in the Scheme until 31/12/2025) will operate in accordance with the provisions of Regulatory Decision 02/2024 (O.G. 376/2024) O.G. 376/2024) entitled “Regulatory Framework for the Activation of Active Consumers and Self-Consumers of Energy from Renewable Sources.” A relevant clarifying announcement was issued by CERA on 05/09/2025.

It is clarified that the RES & Energy Saving Fund will continue to accept applications under the “Grant Scheme for Photovoltaic Systems in Households.” More information about the Scheme is available on the Fund’s website: https://resecfund.org.cy/
